Media Cabinet/Sideboard in Cherry and Black Walnut
This piece was designed and made to house a television, midi Hi-Fi system and DVDs. The bi-fold doors allow the central part of the cabinet to be opened for access to the television, the inner doors fold back onto the the outer doors. A laminated stringing detail runs through the thickness of the door frame and is done in the same contrasting wood as the panels. This creates visual interest as the inside of the doors are as attractive as the outside. The outer doors open for access to the Hi-Fi and DVDs. I like to select wood to flow with the curves of a design and the top rails of the doors are cut from a single board with a curved figure. The piece has an open back to allow for air flow and cables.
