This has been an interesting project with a fair amount of geometry involved. It is essentially very simple, an octagonal top on an octagonal pedestal. The base was made from 8 tapered slabs, bevelled and jointed together. To make sure of tight fits, the whole thing was clamped together using clamping blocks with three trial runs and gradual tweaking before gluing up.
